Ask anyone who has married at The Barn at Pengelly what they remember most, and alongside the views, the food and the dancing, you will almost always hear the same thing: the team. Our wedding coordination is at the heart of everything we do, and it is something we are incredibly proud of. That pride was shared by our couples last year, when we were named Events Team of the Year for the South West at The Wedding Industry Awards (TWIA) 2025. This year, we are thrilled to be finalists once again. So we wanted to take a moment to share what our coordination really looks like, and why we believe it makes such a difference. Every vote is a wedding we were part of, a family we got to know, and a day we will never forget. From Your Very First Enquiry Our coordination does not begin a few weeks before your wedding. It begins the moment you first get in touch. From your initial enquiry and your first viewing, through to booking your date, you will have a friendly face and a familiar voice guiding you every step of the way. We get to know you, your story and your vision, so that by the time your wedding comes around, we feel less like your venue team and more like part of the family. Building Your Day Together Planning a wedding brings a lot of moving parts, and we are here to help you bring them all together. We work with you to build your wedding day timeline, making sure every moment flows naturally, from the first guest arriving to the last song of the night. We also liaise directly with your suppliers, so your photographer, florist, band, celebrant and everyone else involved know exactly where they need to be and when. It means fewer emails for you, and complete peace of mind that everyone is working from the same plan. Those 11pm Messages We know wedding thoughts do not keep office hours. Some of the best ideas, and the biggest worries, tend to arrive late at night. Whether it is a question about table plans, a sudden change of heart on a colour scheme, or simply needing reassurance that everything is on track, we are here to answer those 11pm messages. No question is too small, and no worry is too silly. Setting the Scene In the days before your wedding, our team is busy behind the scenes helping with set up, so that when you arrive, the barn is ready and waiting for you. You get to walk in, take a breath, and enjoy it, rather than worrying about whether everything is in place. Your Wedding Morning The morning of your wedding should feel calm, joyful and unhurried. We are on hand to settle any last minute nerves, to have those quiet, reassuring chats when you need them most, and even to help you get into your dress. We will be there with the safety pins, the tissues and the calming words, taking care of all the little things so you can be fully present in the moment. The Moment You Walk Down the Aisle When it is time for your ceremony, we make sure everything is perfectly in place. We time your walk down the aisle, cue your music and make sure your guests are settled, so that your entrance feels every bit as magical as you imagined. Through Every Moment of the Celebration Once you are married, we are with you throughout the rest of the day. We welcome you and your guests into your wedding breakfast, keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes, and make sure every element of your timeline happens just as planned. As the evening unfolds, we are there to watch your first dance, and later, to cut and serve your wedding cake to your guests. And when the night draws to a close, we will be there watching that final dance, often with a tear in our eyes too. The Day After Our care does not end when the music stops. We see you all again the day after your wedding for pack down, helping you gather your belongings, decorations and memories, and giving you one last chance to share the highlights of the day with us before you head off into married life. A little over a year ago, we began work on a new addition behind the scenes at The Barn at Pengelly, our very own Kitchen Garden. What started as an idea to bring our catering even closer to home has grown into one of our favourite parts of the venue, and we are so excited to share how it has flourished. Why We Started Growing Our Own At Pengelly, our menus celebrate the very best of Cornwall, with ingredients sourced within a 25 mile radius wherever possible. The Kitchen Garden takes that philosophy one step further. We now grow a rotating selection of vegetables, herbs and fruit right here on the farm, harvested fresh and brought straight into our in-house kitchen for use across our seasonal wedding menus. It means our chefs are working with produce picked that same morning, and our menus naturally shift with the seasons, from early spring herbs through to late summer fruits. There is something wonderful about serving a dish to a couple and their guests knowing the vegetables on the plate were growing just a few steps from where they are sitting. A Beautiful Space in Its Own Right The Kitchen Garden is not just about what we grow. It has become a beautiful setting in its own right, with a wood fired pizza oven, picnic benches, and an optional outside bar for al fresco dining. Kitchen Garden Pizza Party Held the night before the wedding, this is a relaxed evening of wood fired pizzas cooked fresh in our clay oven. We offer a selection of classic and seasonal options, alongside fresh salads and sides, all enjoyed in the heart of the Kitchen Garden. It is the perfect way for couples and their close family and friends to unwind together before the big day, with good food, good company and zero stress. Kitchen Garden Breakfast The morning after the wedding, we offer a shared brunch in the same beautiful setting. Think fresh flatbreads straight from the wood fired oven, classic cooked breakfast options, granola, pastries, fruit and fresh juices. It is a gentle, sociable way to bring everyone back together one last time before saying goodbye, and a lovely bookend to the wedding weekend. More Than Just Weddings The Kitchen Garden is also available to hire for private events and parties, whether that is a relaxed family celebration, a birthday gathering or simply an evening with friends around the pizza oven. Looking Ahead This is only the beginning for our Kitchen Garden. As it continues to mature, we are looking forward to expanding what we grow and finding even more ways to bring it into our menus throughout the year. It is a project close to our hearts, and one that reflects what Pengelly is all about: thoughtful, seasonal, locally led food, served somewhere truly special. What's Included Each package includes charger plates, napkins, table runners, battery-powered taper candles and tea lights, and candle holders. Everything you need for a beautifully dressed table, all stored on-site at Pengelly, all set up by our team the day before your wedding. When you arrive on your wedding day, your tables are already done. All that's left is for your florist to add any floral arrangements if you've chosen to have them, and then it's ready. Because your styling is stored on-site and set up by our own team the day before the wedding, there's no last-minute rushing, no coordinating with external hire companies, and no anxiety about whether everything will be ready in time. Sustainable, Simple, and Better Value Our packages remove the stress of delivery charges, collection fees, and the logistical hassle of coordinating timings on one of the most important days of your life. Rather than couples buying items they use once and then try to resell or hire companies transporting the same items back and forth across the county, our pieces stay on-site and are used repeatedly.
