Reflecting on 2023 at The Barn at Pengelly

As we stand at the threshold of a new year, it’s time to take a stroll down the memory lane of the incredible journey we’ve had at The Barn at Pengelly throughout 2023. What a year it has been – our first full year of weddings, unforgettable moments, and exciting expansions!

38 Weddings, Come Rain or Shine: We had the privilege of hosting 38 couples throughout 2023, indoors and outdoors, under the warm sunshine, in the gentle rain, and even amidst the magical snowfall. From brides walking down the aisle on horses to surprise visits from alpacas, and furry dog friends sharing in the joy, no two weddings were the same.

We’re thrilled to share that 2024 is shaping up to be an even more extraordinary year, with 60 weddings already on the calendar! We can’t wait to welcome all those soon-to-be-married couples and create more unforgettable moments together.

Branching Into Private Events: With the extension of our services to private events this year, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting 10 festive Christmas parties and 8 other special events. The joy of celebration knows no bounds, and we’re eagerly anticipating even more private events in the coming year.

Team Growth & Changes: Our team has seen both farewells and new beginnings. We welcomed Lauren, our Venue Manager, back from maternity leave, and Meg joined us as Wedding Coordinator. As Sarah embarks on her adventures in Asia, we bid her a fond farewell. Excitement is in the air as we prepare to welcome two new members to our team in the New Year – Emily and Catherine.

Venue Enhancements: In our commitment to offering an exceptional experience, we’ve made several improvements to the venue. A new flat grass area, licensed for ceremonies, and a wooden arch at the entrance provide a picturesque setting for your special day. New rustic features throughout the inside the venue add more warmth and we have also included a handmade wooden ceremony arch for those indoor ceremonies.

Accommodation Expansion: Our accommodation has also seen growth with the addition of Margh, a two storey cottage that sleeps six, with the cottages now sleeping 27 of your guest. For those seeking a bit more luxury than camping, we’ve added three glamping yurts, complete with real beds, soft furnishings, lights and power.

As we bid farewell to 2023, we’re already hard at work on exciting updates and upgrades for the coming year. Keep an eye out for some special additions currently being crafted in Santa’s workshop!
